Care & Cleaning
- Daily remove poop and spoiled food from cage accessories and cage liners. I use a handheld vacuum, but a small broom and dustpan also work well.
- Regularly wash all cage accessories and cage liners. It is recommend to wash all items every 5-7 days or as needed to maintain a healthy environment free of odor and wetness. First remove poop, food debris, and hair. I have found that the best way to do this is to use a handheld vacuum. You can also use a rubber-bristled pet grooming brush (I used one called Fur-Be-Gone) and shake the cage accessories and cage liners into a trash can or onto grass. Once you have removed as much debris as possible from the items, wash them in a washing machine with cold or warm water, detergent or borax, and about 1/2 cup white vinegar or bleach. Dry completely on high heat settings in your dryer before replacing in the cage.
- Note: Do not use dryer sheets or fabric softener. Avoid detergent with heavy fragrance, and consider using an eco-friendly or non-toxic detergent.
